Behind the name "Ualright'

In this era of internet and social media, we are virtually connected to any corner of the world, but people living under the same roof lack communication and experience loneliness, isolation and depression. We often forget that effective communication is the building block of any strong marital, parent-child or sibling relationship and strong bond.Often we  are too engaged or hesitant and don't bother to spare a moment to enquire about  the emotional well being of our loved and near ones. Quiet often people are hesitant to share whats inside their mind but that doesn't mean that they are always mentally strong and stable. For  persons who are emotionally fragile, a single enquiry-'are you alright?' can light up their mood and can go a long way in helping them getting back to normal.'You alright'?- is said to be magical words and it  has the potential to be life changing for a person going through life's darkest  moments. We often wish to be queried about our emotional state, when we are crumbling inside. If someone stops by and enquires about your well being, you know that he or she has the capability and readiness to extend a helping hand. The very thought and gesture that there is a shoulder to lean on and vent your feelings may strengthen you and empower you.

According to statistics, 1 in 5 in the world suffers mental health problems. The number of mental health care workers are not sufficient to reach out to the growing number of people suffering mental health conditions.Understanding the gravity of the situation, let's rise to the occasion and do our part to  identify and work through problems and help those in need to regain emotional and social well being and balance in life.

The rationale behind the name 'ualright' is that let's care and support for each other and next time when you meet a person in distress don't forget to ask -Are you alright? There are people with readiness and capability to help and work through your problems and regain your wellness, vigour and vitality.Lets care ourselves and others too for the universal mental health.

Why We?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), by 2022 approximately 20 percent of Indian citizens will be suffering from some form of mental illness. Currently, the strength of mental health professionals in India, to cater to the 1.38 billion people (latest UN data) that live here, is a meager 4000. The treatment gap is a staggering 83 percent. The mental health crisis in the country will not only impact people, their wellness and lives but also the economy. The WHO forecasts economic losses as a result of mental health problems in India at US$ 1.3 trillion from 2012 to 2030. Indeed, mental health is intimately linked to working outcomes and performance at the workplace. Absenteeism due to stress, anxiety, and depression at work has become extremely common. However, it is not just working professionals that suffer. 20 percent of all Indian mothers suffer from postpartum depression. Now it has increased because of this pandemic crisis. India wants to improve mental health care, but has no accurate data on mental health practitioners. If we could succeed on this initiative it will be an excellent backup records regarding mental health services.
